Areas of the face, such as the upper lip and chin, and the bikini area are other parts of the body that may be "lasered" to remove unwanted hair.

Because hair reacts to light only during the active phase of its growth cycle, multiple treatments with the laser are always necessary. The effect of the laser is to reduce the size of the hair follicle, thwarting hair growth. When regrowth does occur, it is usually thinner, finer, and lighter in color than the original hair.
